At the time of the city of Saigon’s birth, it grew very quickly due in part to its strategic location for trade and commerce.
Saigon 48 has increased in popularity for more reasons than just its strategic location—on 48th Street in the Theater District—no doubt its great food and service, both in the restaurant and for delivery, have played a large part. Saigon 48 offers a casserole that they believe is close to royalty, with prawns, scallops, crab, fish and calamari. With this special dish and others, they pretty much have the kingdom of the sea covered.
Pho—A hearty oxtail soup with rice noodles, beef, basil, bean sprouts and hoisin dipping sauce
Rice Vermicelli—With bean sprouts, herbs, lettuce, cucumber salad, roasted peanuts and choice of lemongrass grilled
Royal Seafood Casserole—With jumbo prawns, scallops, fish, crab, calamari, mussels, okra, eggplant, bell peppers, onions, string beans and clear noodles in a curry sauce
Tofu Steak—Grilled tofu steak with lemongrass, served with steamed fresh spinach and bell peppers
Grilled Pork Chops—Marinated with lemon grass, honey, garlic, and lemon juice. Served with lettuce, tomato and cucumber
Teriyaki Marinated Cube Steak
Fast delivery, great value-for-money, good food. This is my go-to daily bites.

I ordered a Beef Satay Sauce Noodle Soup with egg noodles, Thai tea, and spring rolls. About half of the order I received was wrong, I received a duck veggie noodle soup and side soup with my Thai tea and spring rolls.
I didn't want to wait another hour for the correct food, so I ate it even though I didn't like the noodle soup. Not sure if I'll order from them again.

HORRIBLE! That's the only word I have to describe this place. Fast delivery but food was awful! We ordered the pad Thai, Vietnamese noodles and sea bass with ginger and leeks. Other than some of the bass, the rest went in the garbage!

Very Rude Owner! I ordered my favorite crispy noodle dish a few months ago. when I received my delivery the noodles were soft; which was obviously a mistake. When I called the restaurant the owner did not believe me. I happen to live a couple short blocks away, so I walked them back down to the restaurant. When i walked in the owner did not look at me or the noodles to see if they were wrong, but I was insistent that they be corrected before I leave. He begrudgingly took them back to the kitchen and came out with some "crispy" looking noodles a few minutes later. When I got home to begin eating my dinner, I saw that he had taken the already cooked soft noodles and had them fry up the outside; which created an inseparable mount mushy noodles, crispy looking on the outside and completely mush inside. I called back and this time the owner hung up on me. I called again and a different man (who I assume is the manager) picked up and had the correct noodles delivered to my door. Abismal customer service doesn't even begin to describe this situation. I will not give this restaurant my business ever again.

Couldn't be further from authentic Vietnamese food... everything was either bland or dominated by an Indian curry flavor, nothing remotely to do with Vietnamese - one of the most intriguing and diverse Asian cuisines out there... totally disappointed here.

Good delivery time. Great appetizers: steams rice crepe, steamed crystal dumplings, scallion pancakes, shrimp shu mai. They taste like they are house-made, not like they bought from frozen food in china town.
Extensive selection of menu as well.

Delicious Grandma recipe soup, elegantly packed with solids in one container, broth in another -- add the tender chicken & healthy veg to soup as desired, or pour broth over the goodies & sip the remainder of the broth slowly ... so many options, one delicious serving. Generous size, hot sauce provided, utensils offered.

Very disappointing. I ordered the crispy vegetarian spring rolls and the Vietnamese shrimp. The spring rolls were OK (if nothing spectacular) but the Vietnamese shrimp was one of the worst things I've ordered off of Seamless in a long time, possibly ever. The description on the menu says the Vietnamese shrimp comes with "beer in chef's white sauce." They meant the beer part literally: the dish consisted of some pieces of shrimp, some broccoli pieces with little chunks of tofu-like paste (the white sauce?) smeared on them, and a broth that, upon tasting, seemed to be nothing more than weak-flavored beer dumped over the whole thing. On top of that, the shrimp didn't taste very fresh, though I couldn't tell if that's because the shrimp in fact wasn't fresh or whether it's just because the shrimp was drenched in gross, weak-tasting warm beer. There were some bits of some herbs thrown in but they didn't make it edible, nor did the hot sauce served on the side, which I added in an attempt to give it flavor. Avoid.

Delivery was 60 minutes late. Food was mediocre. Not sure how much better it would have been if it arrived on time.
I'd trust the reviews on the lower end given my experience.

Service is terrible. It took me three minutes to come down to get my food and i received a phone call from the delivery man yelling at me that he was waiting. I went down and the door man informed me that the delivery man threw my food on the floor after speaking to me on the phone.

Chicken Curry: take 1 tbs of McCormick's curry powder and boil in 1 cup water. Overcook chicken, vegetables, and noodles and serve.
Roasted String Beans: not a bad side order, but for $10.95? Barely enough for one as an appetizer.
Vietnamese summer spring rolls vapid.
Bad value, bad buy.

Delivery man was very rude. I stepped away from my desk for 5 minutes and came back to 4 voicemails and 7 missed calls. The food was atrocious. Threw all of it away. Bland Pad Thai, bland Pho with stale noodles. The fried shrimp dumplings tasted awful even by cheap asian food standards. Will never order from here again

I ordered pho and it was good but the experience I had with the delivery guy had me so annoyed, I won't order from here again. I buzzed him in and opened the door as he made a dramatic show of acting SO out of breath and irritated that I dare make him walk five flights (come on, my 70 year old mom doesn't even get that out of breath). I politely said 'hello' and 'thank you' as he shoved my food at me and he didn't say a WORD back to me before turning away and muttering under his breath as he left. SO RUDE and unnecessary. And yes, I had already tipped him 20%.

The Saigon Style Noodle soup was very good. Lots of fresh vegetables and high quality chicken and pork. I appreciate that they serve it with spicy pepper paste on the side. The fried spring rolls weren't that great. The stuffing was the same as the pork dumplings. I won't order those again, but I will definitely do the soup again!

One of the few places in the city that you can get Pho. I moved to NYC from DC where Pho restaurants are everywhere. The soup here is good and serves to fill a craving but it is nowhere near as good or cheap as what you can get in DC or SoCal. I will order again just because I love the soup but it just is too pricey and just not quite good enough to be the staple it was down in DC.

I'm taking back the first review of 4 starts.
The last two times I order, the delivery guy got the soup all spilled in the bag.
The pho noodle had broken plastic container pieces in it.
I don't want to die. Noooooooooo tks.
the food is delicious and delivery time is just as they said.
Overall experience is great.
I ordered the PAD THAI this time, it came with thin rice noodle. Yes MeiFun.
I called them and asked what's sup with that. The lady at front desk told me, I HAVE TO TELL THEM if I want to regular PADTHAI NOODLE?!?!??!??!?! Are you shitting me? It's ok if it's a mistake, but DAMN you gonna bullshit your customer like that? WOW .. front desk's lack of knowledge and honesty is mind bottling.
But the chef''s food is super!!

I had the grilled snapper. It was quite tasteless. I should probably not expect great seafood from this type of restaurant, but this snapper really did taste like it had been frozen for a very long time and then thawed.
On top of being tasteless, it was quite greasy so not even healthy. I'm not sure why grill fish would be that greasy.
Makes me want to just cook at home.

We ordered the Yellow Curry Chicken Soup and Oxtail Soup - both of which were unimpressively bland to the point of inedible. The steamed pork dumplings were o.k.
Posted 3 years ago by Jeremy S.
Fast delivery, but yucky food. I ordered a large pho, which was a fairly good portion size. However, there were no soybeans, no cilantro, and no other fixings except some basil leafs, sriracha sauce, and hoisin sauce. The noodles were plain white pad thai-style noodles but there were all clumped together. Yuck! ---- I also ordered the fried spring rolls - 2 tiny rolls for 3.95! And they weren't very good, odd filling with a bland dipping sauce. I'll bever order again!
Posted 3 years ago by Izabella G.
It doesn't even begin to compare with pho from the DMV but it will do in a pinch. The noodles are hard to unclump, aren't chewy enough, and fall apart too easily. The broth is a little watery without and underseasoned. Still, I think it's better than the pho at Cha Pa and I'll probably order it again because hey, mediocre pho is still way better than no pho. Keep your own sriracha on hand because the container of chile sauce they give you (which isn't sriracha) is really small.

The grilled meat trio with rice and crepes were very tasty. The Pho is okay - I was surprised since it has gotten good reviews, but it's not that good.

I had to lower this rating after I ordered a second round of meal from this place. The fried rice is good. However, the duck (which I paid 15 dollars for) was so bad that I am forced to push this from a 4 to a 2. The duck should be rated as a ZERO. It was old, tough, and just nasty! Awful awful awful....Wish I could have returned it.

Food was generally good, the pho bo stuck together when trying to pour the soup over it, but the beef was quite good once in the soup. Noodles were basically a bit too overdone.

Fresh food, quick service, excellent chili sauce. The pork and basil had heaps of basil and the Old Fashioned chicken (ginger and honey) is a new favorite.

I have ordered from Saigon 48 on several occocasion, typically trying different dishes on each occasion. I have been constantly impressed with the food and service. I typically order for pickup since the restaurant is across the street from my apartment. The marinated teriyaki steak is special.

We ordered the pad thai, house rice (shrimp and sausage) pork chops, spring rolls and summer rolls. We threw most of it out. Nothing had any flavor except the pork chops. Unfortunately, the first one tasted great, but the ones underneath had a gamey flavor that made us wonder if they were old. Very disappointed in the whole meal!!!!
Posted 4 years ago by Fred S.
Not bad for Vietnamese delivery in midtown. The fish sauce was too weak for my taste (but I'm also Vietnamese and prefer a more authentic flavor), but the spring rolls were crispy and come with lettuce as they should. Also, they have Vietnamese meatballs (bo vien) which are not easy to come by.

Never thought Vietnamese food could be served this bad.
FYI, I have had Vietnamese food in both West Coast, East Coast and in Asia.
I would not recommend this place for these reasons:
1) What they offer is Chinese style Vietnamese food, not authentic Vietnamese food;
2) Not only was the pho cold when I received it, it tasted horrible (like fish tank);
3) Pork chop tasted like rubber.

We ordered Sate Chicken, Spicy Tasty Chicken, Pork Dumplings, and Ox Tail Soup. The two chicken dishes were just perfect. Five Stars. I thought the dumplings were just as good, but my sister and girl friend both said they smelled rotten. I didn't understand that. They tasted fine. The soup.... well.... I suppose Ox tail is an aquiered taste.

Amazing soup! When I am craving something light but filling this is my place. I like that everything comes fresh and separated (broth and steamed veggies in separate containers) and the delivery guy is always very nice.

Pad Thai was greasy, & shrimp too mushy.
Beef basil had weird taste.
Posted 5 years ago by Haley S.
Steamed pork dumplings were fatty, both the filling and shell were too dense, the taste and texture were awful.
Steamed noodles with chicken was good but needed a bit more nuoc mam sauce on the side.

Not authentic and bland. Downtown is best for the real deal. The bok choy came with no leafy tops...bizarre. Don't waste your money here.
Posted 5 years ago by Thu P.
Two friends and I ordered three entrees and an order of summer rolls. Everything was bland. One entree had little to no sauce/seasoning. The other two had a tasteless sauce. The summer rolls and even the peanut dip that came with them were flavourless. None of us enjoyed our meals, though nothing was awful. I am perplexed by the high rating for this restaurant.

I was sorely disappointed. The Pho broth lacked flavor, the noodles were sticky and overcooked, and the Crystal Shrimp Dumplings did not like shrimp at all. They lacked texture and taste.

Summer rolls are okay, the peanut sauce was pathetic, can barely taste the peanut flavor. The "pad thai", I use quotes because it was pat thai in name only, was cooked like chinese corner takout noodles, stir fried. It had so much soy sauce and garlic that I could have ordered chow mai fun with chopped peanutes springled on top and it would have been the same.
